NOTICE and DIRECTIVE

from

King Zwelethini Goodwill of Bhekuzulu

I and my people of the Zulu Kingdom are prepared to make a positive contribution to the economic and social development of the Republic in terms of the major imperatives outlined by the State President in his State of the Nation Speech in Parliament on 8th February 2008.

For this purpose I have directed Prince Mbonisi Zulu to establish a special organisation, “umhlanganis’olwazi”, that will combine the most advanced technology and expertise with the highest cultural values of our Traditional Leadership of self-respect and self-reliance, “Ukuzethembe”.

Initially I am asking to be advised on the following objectives with action programmes for practical implementation :

1.  To mobilize the ‘expertise equity’ of people and their communities in support of indigenous traditional structures and leadership.

2. To augment our traditional structures with contemporary knowledge and technologies.

3. To investigate and propose appropriate human, social, financial and management initiatives that will improve conditions of people and their communities for attaining the greater self-reliance of the Zulu Kingdom as a whole.

4.  To address the ‘determined’ economic and social renewal of rural areas and human settlements that will counter rural-urban migration.

5. To seek co-operation with both the public and private sector institutions in obtaining support, both financially and constitutionally.

Our Vision is for kwaZulu Natal to be to South Africa what California is to the United States of America – an economy in it’s own right.

Not more of the same  just building houses – but –  creating NEW RURAL TOWNS that are community based with the renewal of appropriate “Conservation Agriculture”.
